Gene Braunstein began his professional comedy career with Jay Leno, when they
formed the comedy team of "Gene and Jay". They also wrote, performed, and
produced a weekly one-hour comedy show on radio station WERS-FM. For
several years after graduating from college, Mr. Braunstein did stand-up
comedy at "The Improv" and "Catch a Rising Star" in New York
City.
After moving to Los Angeles, Mr. Braunstein wrote comedy for many
stars including Jay Leno and David Letterman. He then turned his talents to
writing episodic scripts for: LAVERNE & SHIRLEY, MORK AND MINDY, NIGHT
COURT, and NEWHART among many other prime time sitcoms. On WHO'S THE BOSS?,
Mr. Braunstein was a staff writer, then producer for the last two years of
the hit show. He then became Consulting Producer for the pilot of Tony
Danza's ABC sitcom HUDSON STREET at Mr. Danza's request. Aside from
sitcoms, Mr. Braunstein has also written for the television series SABRINA,
THE ANIMATED SERIES, and, as a co-writer, THE CRAMP TWINS and DAN DARE -
PILOT OF THE FUTURE for the Cartoon Network in Great Britain. Mr.
Braunstein recently finished co-producing a direct-to-DVD documentary about
Led Zeppelin.
