ZVI HOWARD ROSENMAN

Howard started off as a theatre director and in 1968 directed Katherine Hepburn in the Broadway musical "COCO", Sir Michael Benthall in "I'm Solomon." He moved to producing TV commercials and in 1973 produced "Death Scream", a TV movie for ABC.

In 1976 he produced "Sparkle", written by Joel Schumacher, for Warner Brothers and then formed a company with Renee Missel - another of our tutors - and produced "The Main Event" starring Barbara Streisand and Ryan O'Neil. 1978 they produced "Resurrection", starring Sam Shepard, for Universal Pictures, earning a Academy Award nominations for Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress. Then they produced "Lost Angels", directed by Hugh Hudson and then for Disney, they produced "Gross Anatomy."

Also at Disney with Carol Baum Howard produced the documentaries "Common Threads" and "Harvey Milk" and the the drama "Tidy Endings" starring Harvey Fierstein. This garnered four ACE awards, including one for Best Dramatic or Theatrical Special.

Howard and Carol Baum produced "Shining Through" starring Melanie Griffith, Michael Douglas, Liam Neeson, "Straight Talk", starring Dolly Parton, "A Stranger Among Us", starring Melanie Griffith, "True Identity," starring Lenny Henry, "Father of The Bride", starring Steve Martin,  and also "Buffy The Vampire Slayer," which went on to become a hit TV series.

In 1993 Howard became President of Motion Pictures for Brillstein-Grey Entertainment. He produced the documentary "Celluloid Closet" and garnered five EMMY nominations. It also won the Peabody Award for Outstanding Journalism. Howard went on to develop more than twenty projects with the major studios.

"Family Man", starring Nicolas Cage, came out in 2000. The documentary "Bond Girls Are Forever" came out in 2002. And in 2003 "Noel", by David Hubbard, "Cat and Mouse," by Neil Tolkin, "The Monster of Longwood," starring Al Pacino, are all in production plus many other projects being optioned, developed, sold on to other production companies.
